On April 3, 2023, people opened their Twitter accounts to get greeted by a well-recognized Shiba Inu rather than the usual logo of a bird. Netizens were trying to figure out what new trick Elon Musk was up to. Could it be a belated April Fools' prank or was the derpy-looking dog here to stay as the new logo of the social media platform? According to TODAY, the new Twitter logo is none other than the popular mascot of the cryptocurrency Dogecoin.

The new doggy logo has sent the internet into a frenzy as people started questioning Musk's sudden decision of changing the iconic all-familiar blue bird logo. "There is a little dog at the top of my Twitter. He looks guilty," @coryedelCTV tweeted. Other netizens also posted their puzzled tweets inquiring about the Shiba Inu logo giving them a side-eye from the corner of their Twitter pages.

@daredevil_dg joked that "our comments will become barks instead of tweets" since the bird has been replaced by Musk. Most people noted that they did not spot the change immediately and the rest of Twiterrati wondered if it was an April Fools' joke in Musk's style. Whatever it is, some netizens are even worrying that the next change the tech billionaire will be introducing to the platform will be something even more drastic.

But the change might not be as sudden as it seems. Musk could have been planning this for a while now according to an old tweet by the Twitter CEO whose screenshot was reposted by Musk himself. The resurfaced screenshot of the tweet shows Musk having a conversation with a Twitter user @WSBChairman as the person suggests Musk "buy Twitter" and "change the bird logo to doge."

Looks like Musk has kept his promise as he is the boss of Twitter now and has actually switched the old logo of Twitter into the dog's face. Netizens also speculated that the change might be an indicator that Twitter's current owner is facing yet another rough day related to disgruntled workers or a recent lawsuit might have been pressed against him concerning cryptocurrency.

According to Reuters, a Dogecoin investor filed a lawsuit against Musk for $258 billion on racketeering charges in June 2022. The lawsuit accused Musk and his companies, Tesla Inc and SpaceX of promoting Dogecoin and driving up its prices only to let its prices crash two years later.

Well, we can't decode the real reason behind the appearance of the new doge logo but sure as hell, people are having a gala time poking fun at Musk's wild decision regarding the platform once again. The social platform which was founded by Jack Dorsey, Noah Glass, Biz Stone and Evan Williams in 2006 has seen massive transformation since Musk took over and people on Twitter haven't been exactly thrilled with it. We can only hope that the platform goes back to its old self one day before it's too late.
