The final episodes of Jeopardy! featuring the late great Alex Trebek are airing this week, and the long time host left us with some incredible words of wisdom.
Trebek, who passed away last November at the age of 80 after a long battle with cancer, filmed the final episodes in October. On this past Monday’s episode, Trebek reminded viewers of the messages he shared in episodes around Thanksgiving in which he asked us to “take a moment to give thanks for all of the blessings that you enjoy in your lives.” He then put his focus on the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, asking viewers to help those who have lost so much during this unprecedented time. Take a look.
“We’re trying to build a gentler, kinder society. And if we all pitch in, just a little bit, we’re gonna get there.”
If those words don’t pull your heartstrings just a little bit, we don’t know what will.
After years and years of unforgettable Jeopardy! moments, Trebek certainly seems to strike a more reflective tone during these last few episodes. Known for his hosting prowess as well as his witty sense of humor, Trebek was almost something of a teacher for millions of Jeopardy! fans around the world. He was tough but fair with his contestants, and was never afraid to offer fans of the show hilariously savage moments like this:
Long live Alex Trebek! We will miss him.
The last episode of Jeopardy! featuring Trebek will run Friday, January 8th, 2021.
