Grant told 'The View' host how the joke made him "extremely nervous." You can never have too much moisturizer," said Goldberg, handing him the bottle.
Do not let the "rugged men look hot" notion mislead you into not using a moisturizer or your skin will resemble a "scrotum." Not our words but Hugh Grant suggests this on the Academy Awards stage alongside actress Andie MacDowell. The audience erupted in laughter.
The self-deprecating joke was taken seriously by The View host, Whoopi Goldberg and she gifted a moisturizer to Grant during the live interview. The duo reunited after their 1994 hit movie. The host ensured the Notting Hill star looks more handsome than he is and we aren't complaining. The 62-year-old actor appeared on stage to present an award when Love Actually star cracked a crude joke about himself at the Oscars on Sunday, March 12, 2023. MacDowell, his Four Weddings and a Funeral costar passed a shy smile as the room broke into a big chuckle. On stage, Grant joked, "We are actually here to do two things." The audience listened carefully as none of them expected what he was about to let out. "The first is to raise awareness about the vital importance of using a good moisturizer," he quipped, leaving the people amused. But the cat was not out of the bag yet.
Grant continued with crude mockery, "And she [Andie MacDowell] has been wearing one every day for the last 29 years, and I have never used one in my life." He concluded the joke by saying, "Still Stunning [MacDowell] and I am basically a 'Scrotum.'" LOL!! The racy joke went well and recently Grant appeared on The View for an interview where he discussed how the joke made him nervous. He revealed on the live show, "I was nervous – I wrote that joke and I was extremely nervous about it." But he certainly did not look nervous, we must admit.
Whoopie Goldberg brought up the hilarious joke during the interview and also pointed out that the two actors seemed to have a good time at the Oscars. Afterward, she rolled the clip for those who may have missed it. Goldberg also ensured she mentions that the joke was indeed "funny as hell." Well, we may agree to that. "I think I got away with it," Grant told the panel of the talk show. He also shared, "Sigourney Weaver said to me afterward, 'You don’t look like a scrotum.' She liked the joke. That relaxed me. But I was very nervous about it." It sounds as if Weaver sensed Grant's apprehension.
Goldberg was ready with a nice bottle of moisturizer which she handed over to Grant on The View show and said, "Just in case. You can never have too much moisturizer." Grant immediately quipped, "Would you mind if I moisturized during our interview?"

Twitterati enjoyed and left uplifting comments for the actor. @Haissem1998, wrote, "He was absolutely delightful. If this was a way to show a better side of him from Oscar night, you achieved it. However, I wish he had said something like, hey it was just an awkward moment - we all have them. He’s a phenomenal actor with a great sense of humor." We agree!
