The human body never ceases to amaze. It can bend, it can break and it can also rotate. Kelsey Grubb of Albuquerque bagged the Guinness World Record for her ability to turn her foot to an angle of 171.4 degrees. Crazy, right? But so brilliant.

The 32-year-old woman did what seemed physically impossible. The Mexican woman has a Guinness World Record for the "largest foot rotation" in the female category. And we cannot even move our necks without a sigh of pain. LOL! For Grubb, the news of bagging a spot in Guinness was as surprising as it was for the world. She was clueless about her entry into the world records and only found out about it at her workplace. Her colleague read the news to her, and of course, she was happily shocked. She recalled her colleague reading, "I work at a library and the newest world record book (2021) had just come out. A coworker was flipping through and randomly opened to the page with the largest foot rotation and said, 'Ew! That's so gross.' Naturally, I looked over her shoulder and said, 'I think I can do that.'"

Something is special about her being able to rotate her feet to almost 180 degrees. Maybe long years of practice led her to perform such a record-worthy act. But surprisingly, none was true. She added, "I always knew I was flexible there but had assumed most people could turn their foot farther than 90 degrees out." She also mentioned that she needs no "special skill" to rotate her feet and it just comes naturally to her. What about the added benefits? Not much, except this unique ability has helped Grubb with her ice-skating hobby and it allows her to move and turn around more swiftly.

But how does one recognize they have a unique talent? "Grubb tried rotating her foot while standing on a piece of paper and realized it was pretty obvious that she had a good chance at smashing the record," per guinnessworldrecords.com

She said, "I didn't know the details about how the measurement needed to happen. But I thought I could no matter the details." Talent aside, what about the pain? Doesn't Grubb feel any pain while twisting it to almost 180 degrees? According to Grubb, her unique talent doesn't really hurt but sometimes it slightly "feels" in her knee and requires her to slow down the rotating movement. However, she maintains that it doesn't feel abnormal. Wow.

She further said, "When I told everyone I was trying [for the record], they immediately would ask to see." People were dubious of her talent and thus demanded to see it. "Once everyone saw, they were sure I could break the current record." Naturally, she wasn't sure whether a "cool thing" she could do was record-worthy. "It was surprising as I applied on a whim, thinking, 'Hey, here's this cool thing that I can do that apparently could be record-worthy. So let's see how this goes,'" added Grubb.

People have mixed reactions to her foot rotation gift. She concluded, "Most people are grossed out and fascinated at the same time. The most common phrase I've heard about it is not that the movement itself is gross, just the ease at which I turn it." The record for the "largest foot rotation in male category" is held by Aaron Ford from Utah, also in the US. He can rotate his feet by 173.03 degrees.
