Dating might get confusing for some people when they have too many options at hand but this woman has a special hack to ace the dating game.
These days we have access to myriad dating apps and the 'dating market' seems pretty saturated at times. In order to find our ideal match, we look for a few things, such as a person’s physical attributes, age, location, profession and interests. We try to find a person who matches our standards and ticks all the boxes before dating them. But one woman – a musician from New York City– has only one rather hilarious criterion when it comes to dating a man. Elle Winter is going viral on TikTok with her video, where she shared her unique dating hack which has apparently worked wonders for her so far.
Elle usually posts videos about her music on TikTok but this particular video which has accumulated over 1 million views so far, shows Elle sharing her interesting dating journey. "I'm going to sound crazy,” she says at the beginning of the video. "But I need to share this with you all as I know it will help someone. I only date boys with the name Alex and I promise it is the best dating hack you will ever find."
The internet isn’t sure if only dating boys named ‘Alex’ is going to be fruitful for one’s romantic life but Elle has further explanations for her audience. She reveals that she broke up with a boy named Alex when she was 17 and it left her heartbroken. She was hurt that every time she came across that name, it made her even more upset.
"But a few months later, I coincidentally started going on a few dates with this boy named Alex," she said in the video. "And then suddenly I was dating another Alex."
Elle claims that going on dates with different men named Alex has helped her to reclaim the name again and not be upset when she hears it anywhere. It’s also easy for her family to remember the names of the boys she has been dating lately since all of them share the same moniker. "And then when Alex number two and I broke up," she explained in the video. "I started going on dating apps and I thought I should continue this trend of only dating boys named Alex. I didn't have to come up with elaborate nicknames for these boys for my friends, it was just Alex."
Now, it's easy for Elle to simply refer to all the men as Alex one, two, or three in the order of when she dated them. Even though Elle’s theory of only dating men called Alex has worked in favor of her romantic life, the TikTok crowd isn’t totally convinced. She has received several polarizing comments on the video. One person wrote: "Imagine your soul mate has another name and you don't give him the chance." Another person called her out on an issue she might be facing and wrote: “I don’t know bestie, sounds like trauma response to me.” Whatever the reason might be behind Elle’s dating strategy, as long as it works for her, we got nothing to complain about.
